Entries Deadline

26-Sep-2017 11:59 PM (GMT -0:00)

*** These awards are now open for entries! ***

This is the submissions & judging site for the Audio Production Awards, which are sponsored by Audible and organised by the Radio Independents Group*.  To read all about these Awards, and to see the full entry requirements and other terms and conditions, please go to the main website here.

Entries cost just £30 + VAT each, for RIG members and BBC staff, or £48 + VAT for everyone else.  The discount is applied automatically for those who qualify, during the entry process.

The APAs honour the achievement of individuals and organisations as demonstrated by a body of work or an exceptional one-off programme, broadcast during the qualifying period (1st July 2016 – 30th June 2017). Judges will consider the quality of the nominated producer’s work as shown by their audio submission.  Consideration may be given to innovation and experimentation, but excellence within any format qualifies the candidate for reward.

Cost, timetable and materials

What is more the entry fee is just £48 + VAT full-price, or £30 + VAT for people associated with a RIG member company (ie permanent or temporary staff or regular freelance) OR people with a BBC email address.

The deadline for entries is shown above.  It's best to get your entries in well before then, in case you realise you have a query or two.  You can always revise each of your entries until you decide to actually click the 'Submit' button.

Every entry requires an mp3 audio file of up to 15 minutes (up to 30 minutes in the case of the Drama, Audiobook and Indie of the Year awards only) plus a description & commendation document of up to 600 words.

NEW: 'blind' judging

For the first time this year, where possible, categories will be “blind judged”. This means that judges will not see fields containing the name of the entrant, or their company, which risks introducing elements of conscious or unconscious bias.

Clearly this will not be possible in all categories, such as best presenter, where the entrant will be obvious.

RIG wants to lead the way in this becoming best practice for industry awards. We strive to make the APAs fair and inclusive, with a level playing field for all entrants, and truly about recognising the best audio production work regardless of source.
We therefore strongly encourage entrants to please not include personal information, including the use of gender pronouns, in any fields other than name/company (which the judges will not see). If an entrant chooses to include personal details, or are identifiable from the audio, we will not able to review and remove this.
