NMA Dermatology & Olay® Research Grant

We are excited to announce a new research collaboration between the National Medical Association (NMA) Dermatology Section and Olay® aimed at advancing dermatologic science and improving diagnosis and/or therapies for skin health in a group or groups for which the solution to the problem has not been adequately determined.

Research Focus:

This $50,000 research grant will support mid-career physicians with a proven track record of research focused on health disparities in order to advance our understanding of dermatologic issues that disproportionately affect underrepresented groups in medicine. The focus of the research should emphasize skin aging, precision medicine, or the use of artificial intelligence to address the specific concerns of individuals with different skin tones and types.

Eligibility:

This grant is intended for mid-career physicians demonstrating a history of commitment to studies that explore the unique dermatological needs of diverse and underrepresented groups.

  • MD; MD, PhD; or DO degree

  • Within 15 years of completion of an ACGME accredited postgraduate dermatology training program

  • Project not funded from other sources

  • Residents and research fellows are not eligible for this grant.

Funding Details:

  • The $50,000 grant will support one (1) proposal with funding to cover research costs, including but not limited to equipment and materials.

  • Proposals should aim for practical and actionable outcomes that contribute to advancing dermatologic science and improving diagnosis and/or therapies for skin health in a group or groups for which the solution to the problem has not been adequately determined.

  • Salary support and indirect costs will not be covered.

  • Submission Deadline: May 15, 2025
