Applicant Types

  • Company 
    • Any registered company operating in Sri Lanka. 
    • Location (Province) of the company is decided by the address indicated in the official business registration document. 
    • Applicants must submit a copy of their Business Registration Certificate (BRC) in the submission form for verification.
  • Startup
    • A Start-up Company is an Information and Communication Technology company that develops an innovative and potentially superior ICT product, but the company itself is still considered at the early stage of operation.
    • The Startup must be a business registered in Sri Lanka after 1st January 2021. Startups that are not registered, need to be a registered Startup with either Startup SL or SLASSCOM.
    • The Startup must demonstrate at least 51% of local ownership. 
    • Applicants must submit a copy of their BRC or proof of Startup SL/SLASSCOM membership in the submission form for the verification process.
    • Applicants must submit a copy of Form 20.
    • The Startup must be an independent entity, not part of a conglomerate. 
    • The Province the startup is eligible to apply from is decided by the address indicated in the official business registration document.
    • Startups are eligible to apply for all corporate categories alongside their specific award category Best Startup.
  • University
    • Undergraduate students from Government Universities managed by UGC / Private Tertiary Education Institutes / VTA are eligible to apply individually or in teams with a maximum of 5 participants.
    • Applicants must submit a signed letter via email (please send to ia@slasscom.lk copying m.jaseem@slasscom.lk ) from the Department Head verifying the originality of the student's work. 
    • The provincial eligibility of the application is decided by the province in which the University is located.
  • School 
    • School students from Grade 09 and above are eligible to apply individually or in teams with a maximum of 5 participants.
    • Applicants must submit a signed letter via email (please send to ia@slasscom.lk copying m.jaseem@slasscom.lk ) from the Principal / Deputy Principal verifying the originality of the student's work.
    • The provincial eligibility of the application is decided by the province in which the school is located.

 

  • Applicants must submit all required information in English.
  • If an applicant has won a national or regional award at the SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards before, and hope to apply within the same category, they must ensure that they are able to demonstrate substantial improvement(s) to the said category.

  • Target Market: The product/project must be designed for use within the financial technology and banking sector, targeting either consumers, businesses, or financial institutions.
  • Innovation: The product/project must demonstrate a clear and significant technological advancement compared to existing solutions in the market. This could include:
    • Utilizing cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, etc.
    • Introducing novel features and functionalities that significantly improve existing financial services.
    • Implementing innovative approaches to security, privacy, or regulatory compliance.
  • Impact: The product/project must demonstrate a measurable positive impact on at least one of the following:

Nomination Criteria:

  • Industry Leadership: The nominee should be a prominent figure in the technology industry, recognized for her leadership and contributions to the growth and development of the sector. This could include founding or leading successful tech companies, holding leadership positions in established organizations, or advocating for the advancement of women in technology.
